Department Commerce

Department of commerce started simultaneously, with the inception of the college in 1984. Telugu was chosen as the medium of instruction as the college was located at rural area. B.Com computers course was introduced in English Medium in June 2007 and P.G. (M.Com.) course in 2009 with 30 seats. Many experienced lectures like Sri.K.Venkata Rao, Smt.D.Bhavani Devi, Sri.P.Anjeneyulu, Sri.G.Papaiah worked in the department having more than 25 years of the service. At present Sri A.Sikhamani is the incharge of the department.  The lecturers in the department give right direction to the students to pursue the courses like M.B.A., M.Com, C.A, I.C.W.A. and B.L. Number of students have got good jobs at various places in different posts. The department has 150 books, journals magazines and paper clippings are available in the department. Computer system and printer are available in the Commerce staff room. The department has computer lab with 14 computers for the student practical as per university prescribed syllabus with lab practices. 

Teaching and learning Practices

In the beginning of the academic year lecturers prepare annual circular plans for the completion of the syllabus and to carry out the academic programmes.  Teaching plan consists of all circular and co-circular activities.

            The lecture method teaching is enriched by using teaching aids, black board, charts, OHP transparences, SMART BOARD and Power Point Presentations. Learning is made student centered by conducting student’s seminars, group discussions, quiz, project work, field trips, and arrangement of guest and extension lecturers. For assigning the knowledge of the learners, the question answer session, subject quiz, to give assignments for average and slow learners and creative assignments for advanced learners and slip tests are conducted in all subjects.

            Each lecturer has to take up ward counseling to gather all personal and academic information to guide the students. Lecturers take tutorial classes for academically backward students, remedial classes for SC and ST students, Bridge classes for First Year students, incentive remedial classes for who fail in public examinations.

A brief report on the activities of the department

With the advent of LPG (Liberalization, Privatization, Globalization) the importance of Commerce and recent trends have to be brought to the notice of the students. Hence the department of Commerce conducts number of activities as follows:

  • Conduct class seminars
  • Arrange guest lecturer
  • Conduct group discussions
  • Conducted quiz  programmes
  • Conducted student study projects each lecturer have two study project for the every academic year.
  • To arrange field trips.
